Where To Go Clubbing In Auckland

Whether you’re into your hardcore drum and bass or can often be seen tearing up the d’floor to not-so-guilty pleasures (not us—promise!) Auckland has sure as hell got it going onnnn. If you live for the weekend and love nothing more than chugging back those Jager-bombs while dancing round the DJ booth, listen up.

With a whole host of venues spinning the tunes all night long, we have rounded up the creme de la creme of Auckland’s nightclubs for your hangover pleasure!

Auckland CBD

Auckland newcomer, Impala, certainly didn’t come quietly. Arriving with one hell of a bang, their club nights continue to draw in crowds from all over the city and proceed to kick-ass with their stellar line-ups of international and Kiwi DJ’s and artists. Expect to knock back a Fireball or two, dance until that 3am kebab calls and thank God that this Auckland underground, class-act club came to town!

The Roxy

Auckland CBD

Tucked away down Fort Lane and boasting that infamous neon sign and an impressive queue, you’ll find The Roxy. It’s always busy, which, says something about what awaits past security. Once inside, you’ll have the two most important things you need for a good night—a bar and a dance floor. Feeling like a bit of people watching instead? Head upstairs, grab yourself a pew and await the club photographer for that potential new profile pic.

Another Britomart masterpiece is that of 1885. Spacious, full of dark corners and home to some of the best beats in town, staying here all night long is an easy decision to make. With various bars, rooms and plenty of dance floor opportunities, club goers are in for one hell of a good time. Order in bottle service if you’re feeling extra fancy and remember, save us a glass!

Ponsonby Social Club

With its twinkling courtyard drawing party-goers in like moths and the dark DJ booth out back as well as a bar boasting epic drinks, Ponsonby Social Club is certainly the place to be. Get there early as this place tends to get pretty chocka. Fill yourself with Dutch courage and get ready to take on the d’floor!

Grand Central

Another infamous Ponsonby jaunt is Grand Central, commonly known as GC to its regular attendees. Known for its laid back, hospo-friendly attitude and unpretentious ways, guests are sure to leave all inhibitions at the door as they really let loose to the live music or DJ’s on stage. Open until the wee hours of the morn and boasting the latest license in the area, this place is your one-stop-shop for a true night on the town!

Family Bar

K Road

This proud as punch, gay owned and operated bar is a complete K Road legend. Family Bar is home to some of the best nights out you could possibly have. It’s a colourful smorgasbord of everything brilliant—it’s fun, it’s loud and it’s damn right naughty. Dance the night away with drag queens, take part in a spot of karaoke and enjoy everything that this landmark has to offer!

Cassette 9

Auckland CBD

If you’ve had enough of your Monday to Friday woes and want to paint the town red, put on your party shoes and pay attention. It’s open until 4am most mornings (say whaaaat?!) and, if you’re feeling a bit naughty and  want to stay out on a school night, Cassette 9 is the place to be. Renowned for their shareable (or not!) teapot cocktails, quirky decor and top-of-the-range tunes, get those excuses ready as to why you’re not going to work tomorrow!
