MasterChef Asia Is Coming To Screens In Singapore This September

Singapore foodies have a new reason to clear their schedules this September, with the revamped MasterChef Asia set to bring some serious culinary competition to screens across the region. The 10-part reality series premieres on HBO Max on September 22, with TLC following at 9pm SGT on the same day and Discovery Channel on September 23 at 7.10pm SGT. The series sees former contestants from across Asia return to the kitchen for a fresh round of high-stakes challenges, competing for the title of MasterChef Asia.

The competition is judged by a heavyweight trio of Asian culinary talent: Chef Edward Lee, Chef "Pam" Pichaya S., and Chef Kelvin Cheung. The diverse line-up of contestants includes Vietnamese-Australian chef Khanh Ong, Malaysian pastry chef Marcus Low, Korean gastronomy specialist Areum Yoon and Meghalaya's Culinary and Cultural Ambassador Nambie Jessica Marak, alongside Asian cuisine chefs Audrey Wicksana, Therese Lum, Mime Kataniwa, Ivory Yat and Macao's Sandy Tang. Restaurant owner Sahadol "Pond" Tantrapim rounds out the cast, with guest judges including Mark Wiens, Abi Marquez, Chef Ken Chong and Chef Julien Tongourian also making appearances.

For Singapore viewers, the regional focus makes this one to watch, particularly as the competition celebrates the breadth of Asian food culture rather than sticking to a single culinary tradition. Filmed in Macao, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, the contestants will cook their way through challenges staged at local markets, Michelin-starred restaurants and a dedicated MasterChef Asia kitchen, putting their creativity, versatility and technical skills to the test.

The series also has some serious credentials behind it. MasterChef is recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's most successful cookery television format, having been commissioned across 74 markets and racking up more than 750 seasons and 16,000 episodes since it first launched in 1990. MasterChef Asia is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, CreAsia Studio and Banijay Rights, with support from partners including SJM Resorts S.A, Cathay Cargo and Darling Downs.

So, whether you're watching for the food, the personalities or the inevitable kitchen drama, Singapore audiences won't have long to wait. MasterChef Asia premieres September 22 on HBO Max where available and TLC across Southeast Asia at 9pm SGT, followed by Discovery Channel across Southeast Asia on September 23 at 7.10pm SGT.
