This heritage-listed pad used to be servants’ quarters for the Berry House Estate, which dates back to 1865 and sits on a sprawling five acres near Morpeth, around 40 minutes' drive from Newcastle. Fast forward to today, and it makes one hell of a getaway.
The self-contained cottage sleeps four and it’s pet-friendly so the Fluffy One is welcome too.

The Airbnb has attracted perfect ratings from families who’ve booked a stay. It’s easy to see why. The legends that own this place provide books and toys to keep the littlies entertained, and there’s a tempting fenced pool, complete with sunloungers so you can keep an eye on the rascals while they splash around.

Take a toddle around the gardens and you might find farm-fresh eggs to collect, or say g'day to the friendly sheep you can feed if you fancy. Oh, and the hosts provide bikes in case a gentle cycle calls.

Later, you can leave your plus one to look after the kids while you take a trip to the shared on-site sauna and soak in the silence.

After that? How about firing up the barbecue for a steak feast? Gather around the fire pit as night falls and toast those s’mores.
