Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey is about to sweep Sydney into her dreamy, deeply romantic world when her highly anticipated A Matter of Time Tour lands at Afterpay Arena (formerly Qudos Bank Arena) for two massive shows this August.

Visa is the Official Payment Partner for Laufey’s A Matter of Time Tour across the Asia Pacific, and is helping bring her Lover Girl universe to life in Sydney—on 7 and 8 August—before the first note is even played.

The musical prodigy began performing as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at just 15 years old. Fast-forward a little over a decade, and the now-27-year-old is three albums deep, has two Grammy Awards under her belt and has won global acclaim for her swoony fusion of jazz and pop.

Now, two years after selling out venues across Australia, including an unforgettable night at the Sydney Opera House, Laufey is returning Down Under for her biggest shows here to date. 

Expect her trademark intimate storytelling and lush, cinematic melodies that somehow make an arena feel like the world’s most intimate little jazz club.

What To Expect At Laufey’s Sydney Shows

Laufey’s A Matter of Time Tour is set to transport audiences into a whimsical castle ballroom, complete with multiple levels, cinematic visuals and plenty of her iconic theatrical glamour. 

Laufey moves between the guitar, piano and, of course, her beloved cello, while dancers, strings and a live band help bring her musical world to life.

Expect favourites from across all three of her albums—including the aforementioned A Matter of Time—plus standouts like the viral hit From the Start. With a lush mix spanning her entire catalogue, prepare to dance, cry and maybe accidentally text your ex. 

Aussie singer-songwriter and classically trained violinist Leonie Biney will warm up the stage as Laufey’s special guest for both Sydney shows.

From the moment you arrive, the Lover Girl energy will hit you, with Visa inviting punters to step inside Laufey’s world aboard its very special Visa Carousel. Because is there anything more fun than pretending to be a little kid again and going on a merry-go-round? We think not! 

All you have to do is sign in at the registration kiosk. From there, join the queue, hop aboard the carousel and soak up the dreamy experience before making your way into the show.

Inside the arena, there are food and drink outlets available, but keep in mind the venue is completely cashless, so bring your card or have your phone ready to tap. You should also allow extra time for security screening and leave any backpacks at home.

How To Get To The Afterpay Arena

Public transport is usually the easiest way to get to Sydney Olympic Park. Catch a train to Lidcombe and change for the Olympic Park Line, which will drop you at Olympic Park Station, which is just a short walk from the arena. 

If you’re coming by ferry, Sydney Olympic Park Wharf is about 3.6 kilometres from the venue, so you’ll take the connecting 526 bus unless you’re extremely committed to getting your steps in before the gig.

If you’re driving, make sure you pre-book your parking with bookings closing at 11.59pm the night before the event, unless spaces sell out earlier. Allow extra time, as traffic around the precinct can get busy on the night of events.
