Ok beauty fiends, listen up. If your idea of heaven involves an immersive Wonka-esque world filled with makeup, skincare, fragrance, and haircare, all from a long line-up of the absolute best cult beauty labels on the planet—well, your dream is about to become a reality.

Next week, MECCA will open its first-ever flagship store in Sydney—and it’ll be the largest beauty store in the Southern Hemisphere. Built into the historic Gowings Building on George and Market Streets in the CBD, it’ll be a full-blown department store and an immersive experience completely dedicated to all things beauty.

Designed by Meahcam Nockles and set across four storeys and a downright ridiculous 1,800sqm of space, you’ll be able to peruse aisles upon aisles of MECCA’s unbeatable roster of brands—from MAU staples like NARS, Laura Mercier, HOURGLASS, and Morphe, to skincare heroes like Drunk Elephant, Dr. Barbara Sturm, and Mario Badescu. Recently, MECCA has also built up a big library of cult clean beauty labels, with some of our favourites on the bill, like Kosas, RMS Beauty, Ellis Brooklyn, and Westman Atelier.

And, to celebrate the launch of this plus-size beauty wonderland, MECCA will be adding a couple of new brands to the fold—including Tom Ford, goop Beauty, Kylie Skin, and of-the-moment adaptogenic beauty and wellness label, Moon Juice.

But, if you thought this was a shopping-only sort of shop, think again. The new MECCA flagship will also offer a set of beauty, health, and wellbeing services. You’ll be able to book a facial with Dr Van Park, naturopath consults with Anthia Koullouros, and even a haircut and style with EdwardsAndCo who will be taking up residence within the MECCA Hair Studio.

Sydney-based jewellery designers Sarah and Sebastian will also have a new home in the MECCA flagship, where they’ll be offering piercing and bracelet soldering. The new MECCA flagship will also be a whole lot more experiential than its predecessors, with a MECCA Skin Lab, MECCA Makeup Lab, and MECCA Brow Lab, each designed for you to experiment, find new favourites, and skill up.

If fragrance holds a special spot in your heart too, you’ll be pleased to know this store will also house MECCA’s biggest perfumeria; there’s also gift wrapping, a beauty concierge, an event space, and even a Willy Wonka-inspired beauty chute to transport products between each of the four floors.

The new MECCA flagship is slated to open on Friday 27 November in the Gowings Building on the corner of Market and George Streets in the CBD.
