This just in—Sydney is about to score a brand new drive-in cinema.
And while there has been some kinda suss (read: probably fake) news floating around about a four-day pop-up cinema happening in August—we can confirm this drive-in is the real deal.
Basically, the legends at Mov’in Bed (that’s the epic bed cinema that occupied a rooftop in Moore Park across summer) have rebranded to Mov’in Car—and created an all-new drive-in that’s a safe, social distancing-approved movie watching experience with all the retro vibes.
Hosted at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, with a state of the art outdoor screen, you’ll be able to park up, recline your car seat and enjoy iconic flicks like Casablanca, Grease and Dirty Dancing.
There’s also a bunch of newer releases screening, as well as feel-goods, rom coms and kids movies. The full line-up is here.
As for how you'll hear the movie—it'll be transmitted over your car radio. How neat.
And naturally, you’ll be in for some diner-style treats to snack on while you watch. Mov'in Car will be plating up New York-style pizzas with classic toppings, like a margarita, pepperoni, Hawaiian, four-cheese, and, for the chocolate fiends out there, there's also a Nutella pizza on the menu.
Mov'in Car isn't Sydney's only drive-in (shout out to Event Cinema's Skyline Drive-In in Blacktown), but here's hoping it'll stick around for a while.
Tickets are on sale right now, head over here to get yours.
