From Classiccore To The New Business Casual: Suss Our Crew’s Trending Op Shop Finds

By

Winter ‘25 is upon us, meaning it’s time to get serious about securing a few fresh looks to help you serve all season long. Meet classiccore—the lover of all things crisp collars and sensible loafers, and the rise of new business casual—less blazer, more personality.

But with the current cost of living and climate crisis, nobody wants to buy new or succumb to fast fashion. So we put our resident stylists to the test, challenging them to nail these looks through thrifted pieces.

With the help of Vinnie NSW’s new platform—Vinnies Finds—our crew walked away with carefully curated fits that would make any Pinterest board weep with jealousy. Even better? Our Design Lead Eric, and Junior Commercial Content Producer Maisie, secured two fiercely unique outfits, all while saving coin and minimising needless waste. Now that’s a major triple win.

Think Ivy League, But Make It Streetwear

If you’ve ever wanted to dress like you just stepped out of a Nancy Meyers film or a 90s rom-com set in a law library, classiccore is for you. Giving major ‘summer in the Hamptons energy’,  we’re very much here for it.

To nail this timeless trend, think of your effortlessly chic aunt or uncle who studied art history and drinks martinis at lunch. It’s polished, and just a little bit posh—like you casually threw on a crisp button-up, pleated trousers, and a vintage trench.

When shopping for her classiccore look, “sticking to neutrals, a crisp white element and high quality fabrics was key” for Maisie. “Stumbling upon the cashmere yellow vest with tags on was a massive thrifting win for me,” she adds.

Ultimately, when using Blair Waldorf and Alex Chung as the inspiration, it’s clear that classiccore isn’t about showing off—it’s about turning up with a leather loafer in tow, looking like you’ve read a few classic novels, and knowing exactly where to get the best flat white in town.

High Low Is Back—But Not How You Remember

Ditch the stiff suits and HR-approved pencil skirts, the high-low trend and the new CBD-approved look is all about blurring the line between boardroom and brunch. Think wide-leg trousers with a ribbed tank, boxy blazers thrown over a white tee, and sleek stilettos paired with relaxed tailoring. It’s corporate-core, made cool.

When it came to nailing the look for our Design Lead, Eric, it all came down to mixing structure with softness and securing the perfect oversized button-up.

“A striped button-up is a staple that everyone needs in their wardrobe. Dressing them down with a pair of track pants just shows how versatile a piece it is."
