A new era of mountain luxury has arrived in the Blue Mountains, with the heritage-listed Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa officially re-emerging as Ardour Lilianfels Blue Mountains, following a multimillion-dollar transformation. Originally built in 1889 as the summer residence of Sir Frederick Darley, the grand estate has long been one of the region’s most storied addresses, welcoming everyone from royalty and political figures to Hollywood stars across its 130-year history.

Now the second property to join the newly launched Ardour Hotels & Estates collection—following the debut of Ardour Milton Park Bowral—the landmark retreat has been thoughtfully reimagined to balance its rich heritage with a contemporary luxury sensibility.

Led by acclaimed Australian design studio Luchetti Krelle, the refurbishment draws inspiration from eccentric English garden estates, layering bold colours, statement furniture and whimsical details throughout the property’s 89 guest rooms and suites. Guests can expect bespoke furnishings, custom textiles and marble-topped joinery, while refreshed common areas bring a renewed sense of grandeur to the historic estate.

At the heart of the transformation is The Lounge, a sophisticated new central bar designed for everything from pre-dinner cocktails to late-night whiskies. Executive Chef Kam McManamey oversees a menu of elevated classics, while new guest experiences include caviar service, an interactive roving cheese station and an upgraded high tea featuring indulgent touches like gold leaf and brioche bites.

The estate’s much-loved dining destinations, Darley’s Restaurant and Miss Lilian, remain untouched, continuing to serve locals and overnight guests alike, while the wellness offering is set to expand further with the arrival of an Èliva luxury day spa.

Perched above the Jamison Valley and surrounded by manicured gardens, Ardour Lilianfels Blue Mountains offers a refined base for exploring one of New South Wales’ most spectacular landscapes—whether you're escaping Sydney for a romantic weekend, celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a slower pace among the mountains.
