Australia Street Sandwich

The team behind Tokyo Lamington and Everyday Creamery have done it all again, opening Australia Street Sandwich within 3 weeks of getting their lease. Right next door to their OG lamington and coffee joint, this sando spot is all about the classics—fresh bread and simple fillings served from a small cafe window on Australia Street. 

While there isn't too much info on this spot yet—they had their opening day yesterday, and completely sold out—what we can tell you is that the sandwiches they're serving are well worth a trip to Newtown. Honourable mentions definitely go to the four cheese toastie with hot honey, but their salad sando with shredded carrot, cucumber, alfalfa, bread and butter pickles, and macadamia fetta is a close second. 

Inside, it's all about white-washed walls, potted plants, and an open-plan layout—the signature Japanese-Australian cafe aesthetic that is echoed across their venues. And while this may just be your new fave lunchtime stopover in Newtown, we aren't opposed to making a day of it—with dessert just around the corner, who could resist?
