Tucked away upstairs in the historic Strand Arcade in Sydney, Bottega Wine Bar is a new part of the offering at award-winning fine dining Italian spot, Pendolino.
"Wine has always been central at Pendolino," says chef-owner Nino Zoccali. The restaurant's extensive wine program has a "three glass" rating from the Australian Wine List of the Year Awards, ticking off famous Tuscan varietals as well as more niche styles like Pigato from Liguria and the indigenous varieties of the Amalfi Coast you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else.
So, a wine bar, situated on the terrace just outside Pendolino in the Strand, felt like a natural move for Zoccali and team. "With [Bottega], we are eagerly looking forward to introducing our curated selection to a broader audience in a more laid-back and casual format."
To pair with the Italian wine list, casual share plates include king prawn rye cocktail sandwiches, freshly shucked oysters, Italian caviar, and a selection of house-made pastas. For hungrier moments, there's a 500g Cape Grim Bistecca Fiorentina.
"The wine bar is a great way to sample our exclusively imported wines," adds Zoccali. "Our regular trips to Italy ensure that we source the finest artisanal producers, delivering an authentic Italian wine experience in the centre of Sydney."
