The Verdict
Iconic Sydney nightclub and waterfront venue Cargo has undergone a four-month renovation, refreshing its two-level space and sprawling beer garden.
Cargo has been a staple on Sydney’s nightclub and late-night dining scene since it first opened in 2000, offering a waterfront location that stays open late with live music, regular headline DJ sets, and an iconic Halloween party on the lineup.
On the ground level, the Main Room now has an illuminated bar and advanced sound and light technology including striking LED screens, with a new large-scale mural by artist Justine McAllister leading up to the level one lounge space. A green marble bar is now the centrepiece of level one, where you’ll also find the wood-panelled VIP area, available for larger groups to book.
A full awning has been installed over the beer garden for all-weather outdoor fun, with a Palm Springs vibe complete with colourful seating, tiled elements, and greenery topped off with those sparkling Darling Harbour views.
The revamped food menu covers all-day eats available from lunchtime until late, packed with crowd-pleasing snacks and mains (like a Japanese eggplant bowl, tacos, pizzas and pub classics), while drinks tick off wines, beers and classic and signature cocktails—plus signature Cargo shots for late nights like the Whamaretto, Skittle Bomb, and Birthday Cake.
Cargo will reopen from 9pm on Friday 31 May.
