The verdict
For modern Japanese-Asian street food, killer cocktails and premium sake, Daniel San has quickly become a post-beach favourite. If you've ever needed a reason to head to Manly, this bar is it. It's a little eclectic, a little rock'n'roll, and a LOT of fun.
Downstairs, you'll find a space full of unexplainable oddities to explore (and start many a convo) as well as a view of the beach and all the babes coming off it. To cool you down, try out the fresh sashimi boat, or on the other hand, you can get steamy with one of the berkshire pork buns. That cashew-kissed sauce has got us making all sorts of excuses to come back, especially on a Monday when all buns are only $3 each (and no, that's not a typo!).
For even more Dim Sum Fun, head in on a hump day for unlimited dumpling shenanigans after 5pm. These are no freezer-packet affairs, either, and change seasonally depending on what's fresh. One week you might strike gold with duck dumplings, the next scallop dumplings. The best thing is, each steamer comes with a variety to keep your tastebuds interested and ready for the next steamer (or two...or maybe just don't keep count, hey?).
Upstairs at the rooftop bar (affectionately named the Beachside Dojo), the view just gets even more stunning and summery. It's the perfect setting for a lazy Sunday afternoon, which is a good thing because that's when the crew bring out the DJs for some relaxed tunes for sunset as you gaze upon this glorious part of Sydney. It's also just quietly one of the best spots for private parties (yep, we're always looking for more excuses to stay up here!)

Bar Demo
Bar Demo is a late-night vinyl bar in Newtown, designed for lovers of a well-crafted drink without the fuss. Owners Claudia Morgan and Olly Churcher (Ex-Double Deuce Lounge) are bartenders by trade, so there’s faith to be had in their curated 60-bottle wine list and seasonally crafted cocktails. The venue itself has grown from their joint experiences working and sipping in some of Sydney’s best bars—Morgan says “we wanted somewhere open late where we could buy a bottle without sitting down for a meal, sink some martinis, listen to some interesting music or have a dance”. Bar Demo certainly checks all of the boxes: open 5pm—midnight, Wednesday—Saturday, with no full kitchen but a dedicated menu for snacks, and a soundtrack of full albums played on vinyl, with each night featuring a curated selection of tunes.
