Carrying over the community vibes and laidback lagers from its Brookvale taproom, Freshwater Brewing Co.’s aperitivo bar offshoot is a little closer to the coast.
Freshie Locale is a breezy bolthole just a few towel flicks from the sand in Freshwater village’s main strip along Lawrence Street.
On the taps are a rotation of Freshwater Brewing’s latest pours, alongside natural wines like pet nats and savvy Bs, plus a handful of classic cocktails and zero-alc options.
The snack game is strong too—warm focaccia with whipped butter, shaved cold cuts, house-made pickles, generous chunks of Parmigiano and a sauce-loaded Freshie lobster roll that’s certain to be swooned over.
The intimate and design-forward space is washed in a pastel palette and sprinkled with vintage surf photography and local maker touches.
There’s room for 25 indoors and outdoors (with plans to double that soon), and it’s got big barefoot energy—swing by after a swim or surf at Freshie Beach from noon or park yourself with a spritz for golden hour ‘til late.
“Over the past few years, we’ve loved building our place in the Northern Beaches community through events, collaborations, and beers that reflect the lifestyle here,” says Freshwater Brewing Co. Founder, Jonny Bucknall.
“Opening a bar in Freshie feels like a full-circle moment. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, just create a relaxed, feel-good space that complements what’s already in the village, with locally brewed beers, afternoon aperitifs, and food that makes you want to stay a little longer.”
