Epula is the newest culinary chapter from the Tapavino Group (Bar Tapavino, Balcon) fusing Renaissance architecture with the warm, bustling energy of an Italian piazza.
Set within the heritage-listed GPO building at Martin Place, the restaurant blends modern Australian flair with classic European soul. Think snacks, share plates, and mains inspired by long, lingering meals across Italy and France.
“We’ve always loved the idea of Martin Place as Sydney’s town square—reminiscent of those grand European cities,” says Tapavino owner Frank Dilernia. “Epula is our invitation for people to gather, linger, and experience something special in the heart of the city.”
If you’re partial to all things salty, spicy, and pickled, this menu is your playground. Kick off with hors d'oeuvres like gazpacho bon bon frito with jamón and salted cod croquette with pear aioli. For entrées, the warm lobster tail roll is essential—and don’t skip sides like PX-soaked raisins, Spanish olives, and Epula pickles for the table.
When it comes to mains, the orecchiette with pangrattato is a love letter to the pasta purists, while the roasted duck breast with caramelised mandarin and parsnip delivers pure luxury on a plate.
“Epula is more than a restaurant,” adds Dilernia. “It’s our way of honouring the spirit of the feast—a place that feels both timeless and joyfully alive.”
A curated wine list spans Italian, French, and Australian labels, while cocktails nod to the classics with a few Epula twists. Pull up a seat on the open-air terrace under the Martin Place arches—here, the full menu comes to life, perfect for a long lunch or twilight dinner in the CBD's beating heart.
The restaurant is open Monday to Saturday, with snacks and coffee served from 7.30am on weekdays.
