Humble Circular Quay

Humble may well be outgrowing its name. The bakery-cum-cafe has opened in a second location—in the Quay Quarter dining precinct at Circular Quay—and it's done so after just over a year since the bakery's inception.

First opening on Surry Hills' Holt Street, the impressive bakery comes by way of the Porteño crew (Elvis Abrahanowicz, Ben Milgate, and Joseph Valore), and it's been winning over Sydneysiders with its pink-iced finger buns, buttery croissants, and lavish cakes ever since. 

For those not already in the know, Humble puts refreshing, south-of-the-border slants on the classics with treats like jamon and cheese croissants and caramelised onion and chorizo snails. The sourdough starter, developed by chef Francois Mignard is not too sour and produces a light crust instead of the teeth-breaking variety sometimes associated with toasted sourdough. "It's not as challenging on your jaw," says Abrahanowicz. Sweet seekers should try the watermelon, cheese, and pistachio pastry or the Basque cheesecake made with Meredith goat's cheese.

Really, it's no wonder Humble's widely considered as one of Sydney's best bakeries—and now suits in the city can get a slice of the pie. 

The Circular Quay outpost proudly has its goods on display, so you'll likely be lured in by the large window piled high with crusty loaves. Once you're in, don't expect the temptation to go away, with cabinets and countertops stacked with croissants, danishes, cakes, cookies, slices, sandwiches, focaccia, and more.

Consider this your new morning coffee-and-croissant spot, your takeaway lunch go-to, and every tasty treat occasion in between. Just get in quick, as it's open from 10am till sold out!
