K’nödel
The verdict
If you sit firmly in the dumpling lover camp, then K’nödel should go on your list immediately. Owners Rico Bibrack and Christian Lwechster hail from Germany and Austria, respectively and their red and black themed K’nödel is an ode to their heritage. Traditionally k’nödel are made from bread, flour or potatoes, and here they specialise in both sweet and savoury versions of the European style dumplings.
Savoury k’nödel are typically paired with traditional German and Austrian dishes and you can expect combinations like finger dumplings with pulled pork and apple cabbage slaw or bread dumplings with goulash. This is not the time to skip dessert, since the combination of carb and fruit is on point. Order the battered apple rings with cinnamon sugar and ice cream and the Mozart k'nödel filled with cherry, marzipan and pistachio covered in a crushed pistachio rolled ice cream.
