Olympus brings the philosophy of Greek dining in the form of a taverna to Sydney’s doorstep in Surry Hills and Redfern’s Wunderlich Lane.
The space, created by the team behind the Apollo and Cho Cho San, is inspired by Greek village dining and community. It's led by a powerhouse team of female talent including head chef Ozge Kalvo (Baba’s Place, Ester), Lucia Konacova (Grana, Longrain) as restaurant manager, and former Lil Sis and Monopole staffer Zoe Brunton as head sommelier.
The inner-city Greek restaurant focuses on ancient cooking methods, with the kitchen featuring a wood-fire section and charcoal oven. The menu features plenty of classic Greek mezedes like taramosalata, dolmades and house-made bread, plus taverna staples like fried lambs brains, grilled sardines and fried zucchini.
Grilled seafood, meat dishes like souvlaki, and plenty of vegetarian options including a spanakopita inspired by a Greek bakery’s 100-year-old recipe round things out, with two banquet menus perfect for group dining.
The wine list includes Greek wines from larger producers and up-and-coming wineries, alongside an impressive cocktail menu to match crafted by drinks industry leader Matt Whiley.
Sip on an Ouzo Colada or while being transported to the land of Greek gods: the oculus roof floods the cream-toned venue with light while casting shadows from the large tree in its centre, making it the perfect dining destination for an international experience in the heart of Sydney.
