Ruma, meaning ‘home’ in Malay, is a Double Bay all-day eatery serving modern Australian comfort dishes spiked with exciting Pan-Asian flavours from acclaimed Chef Faheem Noor of Bartiga, who has previously worked at Tetsuya’s and Gordon Ramsay’s Maze in London.

Marked by its caramel facade and boxy orange sign, the 120-seater space is designed to feel like a traditional Malay home with warm tones, couch seating and sheer curtains, providing a home base for laid-back weeknight dinners or lingering weekend brunches.

There’s lots to love on the brunch menu including hollandaise-heavy eggs benny crumpets; dosa crepes with coconut and chilli chutney; and a Thai-style sausage McMuffin with add-ons like kimchi hashbrowns, hot honey halloumi and maple glazed bacon, plus a loaded pastry cabinet.

Lunch and dinner pivots to elevated plates like caviar-crowned Korean fried chicken with kewpie mayo; tuna tartare with gochujang aioli and wonton crisps; lemon ravioli swimming in crispy chilli oil; and kecap-manis-glazed beef short rib served with sambal hijau.

The drinks list covers everything from coffee to cocktails and boasts one of Sydney's best matcha latte offerings, with hot, iced, strawberry, coconut cloud and cream-topped variations.

Boozy highlights include a kumquat margy, stone fruit bellini and double pay spritz with Campari, grapefruit, rose water, rosé wine and soda, alongside wine, beer and non-alc sips with happy hour deals from 3pm–6pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
