The Verdict

This cute little kitchen brings homemade country-style dishes to the city, with a modern twist on flavour combinations. Their avocado definitely isn’t boring, topped with pickled ginger, honey and toasted sesame, plus their piklets, which are paired with orange syrup, toasted coconut, Turkish delight, candied ginger and natural yoghurt. See, we said they were twisting things up.

As their name suggests, the Silly Tart menu features a range of tarts, like the Spiced Carrot Tart, which is deliciously paired with organic Masala Chai. More traditional homemade meals include their buttermilk chicken burger with salt and vinegar potato scallops on the side.

Brews are by Skittle Lane and they also have specialty coffee beans to go (a definite positive), a range of take-home treats (marmalade, anyone?), and Silly Tart also has their own eco wall garden to ensure only the freshest herbs and vegetables are used in their daily menu. And did we mention they also cure and smoke their own meats—even bacon. Yep, you’ve just been introduced to charcuterie board heaven.
