"Big" Sam Young and his partner Grace Chen are the creative duo behind S'more, a Lower North Shore neighbourhood bistro sharing luxe ingredients and elevated hospitality in a relaxed setting.

The ex-Merivale duo clocked up time at Mr Wong, Totti’s, Lotus 2.0, and Est. and Queen Chow—so the standard here is high. Their menu isn’t confined to a particular cuisine, but mostly comprises French bistro-style dishes, with Asian ingredients like Sichuan pepper, miso and seaweed gently scattered throughout.

You might start with a glass of champagne and caviar bump before enjoying potato cakes with salted egg yolk, and scallop crudo coconut milk, white pearls and shellfish oil. From there’s its the signature lobster pasta, hibachi-grilled premium steaks in sizes best for sharing, and sides like the mind-blowing house-made XO claypot fried rice. Yes, it’s flashy and high-roller, but S’more doesn’t take itself too seriously—the focus is on delivering an excellent hospitality experience.

A few banquet menus (at $98pp, $168pp and $298pp) tick off the greatest hits with plenty of flashy additions, and tiers of wine pairings are available from the carefully selected drinks list that also offers saké and whisky.

“Big” Sam Young garnered loads of hype during lockdowns with his #BSYExperience private at-home dining experiences, and they’re still on offer for VERY special occasions.
