The Cedar Cabins at The Eastern accommodation in Thredbo.

The Verdict

If you're after a super stylish snow-filled escape—The Eastern at Thredbo Village is your dream getaway.

Located in NSW's glorious Snowy Mountains region, The Eastern is the brainchild of Sydney-based photographer, Monique Easton—long time skier, lover of all things design and of course, big-time fan of the snow and NSW's picturesque high country.

The Eastern includes two beautiful Scandinavian-style one-room cabins. The first, titled "Cedar Cabin" is positioned on the banks of the Thredbo River with uninterrupted views of Mount Kosciusko (just casually). The loft-style hideaway is small, but what it lacks in space it makes up for in design kudos. Designed by juggernaut designer Nicholas Gurney, you can expect vaulted ceilings, exposed timber and, wait for it, your own private Japanese-inspired onsen. Add to this furniture pieces from Hay, charcoal linen from IN BED, Aesop amenities and fresh coffee beans from Coffee Supreme.

Cedar Cabin is one of the closest accommodations to Thredbo (you’re about two minutes away from the town centre) and you’ll be super close to the Kosciusko chairlift and the sounds of the Thredbo River rapids.

The second property, called the "Oak Apartment ", is perched high on Mount Kosciuszko itself. Its interiors have been inspired by The Alps and you can expect to wake up to a gun barrel view of Thredo's famous High Noon ski run from your bed. You're a quick stroll from Thredbo Village bars and shops, but also in an oasis of mountain quiet.
