Tio’s

Tio’s has been one of Sydney’s favourite spots for a margarita since 2014. The vibes at this Surry Hills bar are Mexican cerveceria-meets-antique store with a quirky and cool setting that’s as curated and distinct as sibling venues Cantina OK!, Bar Planet, Centro 86 and The Cliff Dive.

Once you move past the addictive free popcorn, the real star at Tio’s is the margarita menu. Opt for a textbook classic or Tommy’s margarita, or branch out with the Barbie-pink frozen watermelon marg topped with a spiral of whipped coconut cream, or the Bluest margarita with lemon, blue Curacao, yuzushu and blue fuzz. 

For the bold, there’s a spicy margarita with pineapple, jalapeño, ancho chilli oil and hot drops available in five levels of heat or, for the groups, a mega four-person margarita with orange and lime juice topped off with Cantina OK!’s sparkling margarita seltzer.

Tio’s also does a weekly frozen margarita special available for just $12 every day until sold out, utilising seasonal fruits like plum or mango, or unique flavours like Thai tea.
