Bringing personal passion to Potts Point, renowned chef Sam Young is opening his Chinese restaurant Young Palace this August. Sam Young and his partner, Grace Chen, are drawing from all of the Chinatowns they’ve travelled to around the globe, and hope to incorporate every good ingredient into their one, inclusive restaurant.

With Chinese restaurants, there tends to be an abundance of two main types: the neighbourhood favourite with laminated menus featuring an abundance of options or, on the other side of the spectrum, the fine-dining Asian-fusion type with meticulously curated plates. While both are beloved for good reason, "Big" Sam Young–as famously known on his social platforms–hopes to establish the happy-medium spot that rests on the fine line between the two.

Young Palace will deliver the best of both worlds with two main menus. For a comforting and familiar sweet and sour pork or tangy lemon chicken, the Regular Menu is what you’re after. If you’re looking to upgrade to a more premium dining experience, then the Chairman’s Menu is the one to pick up. Think dishes of fresh lobster, sweet mud crab, and indulgent plates of claypot abalone rice, crowned with truffles and caviar.

With a wine and cocktail list designed to be paired with the variety of dishes, Young Palace promises a dining experience to suit everyone’s palates–even boasting a kids menu with Aussie classics like fish and chips, for the slightly more picky eaters in the family. Prepare to reserve a spot and come hungry once the restaurant opens in mid-August.
