The Spring/Summer 2013 fashion shows are done and dusted, and though we’ll miss seeing what our favourite designers send down the runway, I’ve gotta say, I think I might miss the street style just as much.
This season, a crop of new faces stole the limelight from the regular fashion heavy hitters, as the circus that is the street-style phenomenon continues to grow. So, just what is it about these women that has the blogosphere going gaga?
Here’s my edit of the fresh fashion faces to watch....
The 411... The 32-year-old second wife to billionaire Russian oligarch, Danil Khachaturov, Ulyana Sergenko has gone from couture-collecting, Russian socialite, to celebrated couture designer in a matter of a few seasons. Sergenko’s immaculately groomed face was everywhere this show season.
Why she gets snapped.... This eccentric beauty brings a good dose of old world, European glam to the streets during show time - giving queen peacock, Anna Dello Russo, a serious run for her money. The street-style darling makes wearing capes, feathered skirts, and babushkas look like a walk in the park.
The 411: Beginning her career at American Vogue, this stylist has worked her way through some of the globe’s most impressive fashion titles, including Vogue Nippon, Chinese Vogue, and the recently launched, Russian Tatler. She now acts as Russian Allure’s Creative Fashion Consultant.
Why she gets snapped: Anya is a master of avant-garde style - regularly championing hard-to-wear looks from directional designers, such as JW Anderson and Otswald Helgason. Her penchant for tricky shapes makes her a master of taking runway looks and giving them massive street appeal.
The 411... Elena began her foray into the fashion world as a model. It is her turn as a Russian billionaire’s wife, and subsequent fash pack “it” girl, that has brought her into the international spotlight.
Why she gets snapped... With legs for days, impeccable bone structure, and a fondness for mixing prints, Elena is a true style chameleon. Regularly seen by the side of fellow Russian fashionista, Miroslava Duma, this economics-student-come-streetstyle-darling is one to watch.
The 411... Barbara has carved out a career for herself as the resident stylist at Vogue Spain.
Why she gets snapped... This brunette, Spanish beauty has made a name for herself as the new poster child for boho-meets-rock-chick chic. The look is tight, short, and about as sexy as high fashion gets.
The 411... Former classical arts and fashion student, Elisa Nalin, paid her dues at design house, Costume National, before saying ciao to Milan to make a move to Paris. She now brings her bright and eclectic sense of style to the pages of such publications as ID and Vogue Nippon.
Why she gets snapped... Once called, ‘the smiliest face in fashion’, it’s no surprise photographers are drawn to Nalin’s cheery sensibility and equally bright looks. Her outfits are always unexpected, demure, and a happy mix of high-end designer talent and quirky, vintage finds.
