Grammy-Nominated Rockers Amyl And The Sniffers Are Playing A Free Gig At Fed Square This Friday
Get ready to rock, Melbourne: Amyl and The Sniffers are back for a surprise hometown show this Friday. And it’s entirely free. For one night, they’ll bring their infamous and unapologetic raw rock spirit to the heart of Melbourne to electrify the stage at Fed Square.
It’s yet another superstar offering in the epic lineup of Fed Square’s High Voltage outdoor performances, presented by Fed Square, City of Melbourne and Double J. This latest show follows on from the packed-out King Gizz gig last month, Kneecap and Robbie Williams before that—and who knows what superstars are next on the list…
What’s The Story With Amyl And The Sniffers?
What Will Amyl And The Sniffers Play?
Their 2021 hit Hertz has reached an almost anthemic status, and last year’s album Cartoon Darkness earned them killer reviews globally. Their setlists are a suite of screaming, roaring rock songs of resistance, rebellion, joy, anger and tiny bikinis.
They’re sure to whip out the crowd faves, but honestly, when this force of nature hits the stage, anything could happen. And that’s really what the fans come for.
Amyl and The Sniffers will be joined by opening act Public Figures, local up-and-comers Evie Vlah and Gigi Argiro. This power duo will set the tone with a mix of AC/DC covers (naturally) and their own vibrant Aus-Rock tracks.
Plus, there’s official Amyl and The Sniffers and AC/DC exclusive tour merch on sale at the gig. Get in.
Getting To Fed Square
If you’ve ever been to one of Fed Square’s free shows you’ll know they fill up fast. If you haven’t been before, these gigs are legendary for drawing throngs of thousands, packing the whole Fed Square standing area to the gills with music fans of all ages.
To score a spot right at the front, we suggest grabbing dinner on the run (or stopping in at one of the Fed Square venues close by) and setting up near the barricade early. If you miss out on the front row, don’t worry. Anywhere in the front third will give you a view of the stage and screens (and if you’re a mosher or dancer, that’s where the good stuff happens).
For full accessibility info, check out the Fed Square page.
Fed Square is right beside Flinders Street Railway Station and multiple tram stops. It’s also in the Free Tram Zone, so if you’re coming from nearby, you may not need to top up the myki (but check the map first).
If you’re driving, you’ll want to book a spot in the Fed Square Car Park (entrances on Russell Street and Batman Avenue). And if you’re planning to cycle in, check out the Fed Square map for bicycle parking options.
Don’t forget to BYO hydration, it gets sweaty in there.
