If it feels like Keli Holiday’s face has been all over your feed, you'd be right on the money. The musician has had a massive few months. The first drop from his new record—love song Dancing2—blew up on socials, freshly followed by a rendition of Springsteen's I’m On Fire with Baker Boy for Triple J’s beloved Like A Version.

"The last few months have really felt beautiful", Holiday (AKA Adam Hyde) tells us. "It's been sweet to see Dancing2 connect heart to heart. People seem to be digging my cover of the boss, too."

Dancing2—a tribute to Holiday’s girlfriend Abbie Chatfield—has soundtracked hundreds of TikToks of loved-up couples, wedding first dances and proposal videos. It's a whirlwind reception that can’t be manufactured.

While just last week, the internet loudly declared that having a boyfriend is cringe, the viral response is a refreshing reminder that in an endlessly depressing news cycle, we all need a bit of love.

“I opened up my phone one morning, and I thought it was glitching because every scroll was my song. I realised people have just kicked the ball, which is the song, and started soundtracking their videos."

“The common thread across it all was joy—a celebration of sorts. To be included in any of these memories that people are deciding to share is an honour. It's really wholesome and joyful in a time where we all know that we need it most.”

Holiday's New Record Capital Fiction Drops Early February In Peak Party Season

Set in the nation’s capital, the upcoming album tells a series of stories of nights out, dreaming of a wild life and falling in love. Capital Fiction, a name that sounds plucked from a moody ‘50s Film Noir movie, is semi-fictional for fantasy’s sake.

“I like the ideology of presenting an album like a movie—Capital Fiction is a great thriller title. I initially came up with the concept of working for the Secret Service in Canberra and getting booted out for being an alcoholic. I had a whole storyline,” he tells us.

Instead, the collection of love-fuelled ballads and synth-dance bops is a reintroduction to the musician’s alter ego—a romantic, a radical optimist and the life of the party.

“It’s the first body of work I’ve put real intention into my entire life”, he shares.

“I’ve been banging on tables and making beats since I was a little boy. But this is the first time I’ve gone: we’re going to make an album, here’s the theme, the story and the feeling. It’s really helped me find my groove. I think that’s what we should all do as humans. Anything we create or make, it’s got to be true to our instincts.”

Holiday Asked The Internet Which Track He Should Release Next; They Chose Party Bop Ecstasy

Inspired by Dancing2’s viral success, Holiday handed the reins over to his fans to choose Capital Fiction’s next release.

Overwhelmingly, they chose Ecstasy, a track reminiscent of a sweaty night at a club—cathartic, fun and a little bit sexy.

“I took to the internet and gave the power to the people, because the people are what made Dancing2 so special after its release,” shares Hyde.

Holiday closes his eyes as he shares the story behind Ecstasy—it’s hard not to imagine Abbie and Adam as its subjects. “I see a woman in a white shirt. It’s a dark nightclub. There seems to be a strobe or a camera flash that lights up her hair. She’s covered in sweat, and I’m dancing. I’m looking at her and she’s swinging her hair with a big smile on her face, dancing like crazy.”

“That feeling when multiple people are dancing at once and completely letting go—to me, that’s ecstasy," Holiday adds.

Holiday collaborated with Berlin-born, Brisbane-based music producer Konstantin Kersting to create the track. Fittingly, the pair first met at kick-ons in LA, before re-connecting five months later.

The musician credits Kon with helping him lean into who he is on the record, alongside girlfriend Abbie.

“Kon helped me find my voice. And when I say “find my voice”, I literally mean voice. I’d always be trying to sing. I’m not a singer, I’m shit at singing. But I like that, it's me”

“He also taught me to lean into who I am and trust my instinct more. As did my beautiful girlfriend Abbie. The combination of those two is not to be underestimated. They’re two very pivotal people to the making of this whole album.”

As for what to expect in the lead-up to the album’s release, Holiday has two intimate sold-out shows locked in for November.

“It’s going to be a whole new set—a full live show,” he tells us. “Most importantly, I’m going to bring the heat with a bunch of new music off the album. I can’t wait to perform these songs.”

Everyone else will have to wait for Capital Fiction’s album drop on 6 February 2026, which Holiday wants you to listen to top to bottom, loud and in motion. “Do it on a drive or a walk. I’m a firm believer that motion, optical flow, while absorbing music, is the best way to ingest.”

“Whatever you do, please indulge in said setting at full volume.”
