Brisbane’s transport has a glow-up brewing—and you can thank the Olympics for putting it on fast-forward. While the world is waiting for 2032, there’s action underway that is bringing big gains for the way we get around our city.

The $6.3 billion Cross River Rail puts four shiny underground stations into motion: Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street.

Roma Street’s getting the Grand Central treatment—a one-stop interchange where you’ll be able to roll off a regional train, jump straight onto a bus, and still make it in time for your dinner res. Albert Street’s new stop is basically a love letter to anyone who’s ever sprinted across the CBD to catch a gig; and Woolloongabba puts you in a prime position to eat, drink and party after the game—without the chaos and the crowd-crush.

Add the Brisbane Metro to the mix—a fleet of sleek electric vehicles gliding through the city every three minutes—and suddenly your late-night Valley run or Sunday session is looking smoother than ever. If that wasn't news enough, there'll also be new green bridges linking West End, Toowong and St Lucia.

The real win is how much easier it’ll be to do the stuff you love, without wasting time caught up in traffic jams and train delays. Getting to a gig, grabbing dinner, crossing town without drama—we for one will be stressing less, and saying yes more, in 2032.
