Gelato Messina is one of Sydney’s most loved brands; with 32 stores across Australia (20 in Sydney), special weekly flavours that always justify a revisit, and everyone’s favourite social media manager, it’s an institution.
From Thursday 20 March, Messina is flipping the concept of its Creative degustations and Sunday pop-up Snackbar hosted at the Marrickville HQ into a more relaxed, permanent offering called Erin. Excitingly, for fans who set alarms to nab bookings for Creative, Erin will welcome walk-ins and take bookings for flexible seating times Thursday–Sunday.
Taking over the former Creative space and spilling out into the store, Erin will do a la carte dining and six-course set menus (with all dishes integrating a frozen twist) and gelato cocktails including a pepperoni Negroni and a martini based on the iconic Nicky Glasses flavour (with salted caramel and coffee).
Named for Gelato Messina’s Erindale farm in Victoria, where all of the Jersey milk used in their gelato is produced, Erin’s menu will also use produce from Erindale on dishes like brioche garlic bread with honey, thyme, and black garlic gelato; Messina’s own Jersey beef tartare on toast with parmigiano, and jalapeno sorbet; and octopus with roasted capsicum, chickpea, and romesco sorbet.
Local wines and beers round things out, including a custom white wine made in collaboration with wine label Doom Juice called Moo-Tang that you can sip with your meal, ot buy a bottle to take home—with a tub of gelato, obvs.
Erin will open on Thursday 20 March—see the full menu and make a booking online.
