Jimmy Barnes’ Working Class Boy Sequel Drops Next Week—Here’s Everything We Know
The Australian corner of the internet is abuzz with news of Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes’s latest bare-all documentary continuing on from his 2016 biography (a great Christmas gift?) and subsequent documentary, Working Class Boy.
So what's Working Class Man about, and when, where, and why should you watch it you ask? We've got you.
What Was The Original Working Class Boy About?
Working Class Boy was released in 2018 and was adapted from Jimmy Barnes’s memoir of the same name. It looked closely at Jimmy’s traumatic childhood, from his early years in Glasgow to his life in Australia in the early 1960s. It also explored how his early experiences of poverty, domestic violence, and familial substance misuse shaped his life and career.

What Do We Know About Working Class Man?
The new Working Class Man documentary was directed by Andrew Farrell and features interviews with Jimmy Barnes, along with his wife Jane Barnes and children, Mahalia Barnes and David Campbell.
As a continuation of the original Working Class Boy documentary, Working Class Man explores Jimmy’s struggles with addiction, mental health, and the long‑term impact of his childhood trauma on his life, relationships, and career. Combining archive and concert footage, interviews, and fan videos, it explores both the incredible highs and extreme lows of Jimmy Barnes’s incredibly rock and roll life (so maybe not one to watch with the kids).
The world premiere of Working Class Man was at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) on 21 August 2025. It’s been described as confronting, powerful, brutally honest, and quite emotional in parts.
When And Where Is Working Class Man Airing in Australia?
