How I Holiday: Keli Holiday’s Grecian Love Letter To Folegandros
It’s basically impossible to go anywhere right now without the dulcet rush of Dancing2 spilling out of someone’s speaker, but Aussie musician Keli Holiday is craving the exact opposite: the quiet life.
Fresh off snagging the #2 spot in Triple J’s coveted Hottest 100 and dropping his brand new album Capital Fiction, we caught up with him to talk all things slowing down, switching off, and his dreamy Grecian escape to the laidback island of Folegandros.
Tell us about why you fell in love with Folegandros?
My relationship with Folegandros is that of the Euro to the peso. Foreign and curious. As soon as I met the donkeys it was a solidified infatuation.

Where do you go for an authentic Greek dining experience?
Taverna Agali is my favourite eatery in the world. The food is too comforting to put into words and the service makes you feel like family.

Where will we find you having a tipple?
Through my dumb white eyes, the only way to drink here is naked and by the rocks with a loved one. Alpha beer ice cold is the preferable option.

For music lovers, where will you find the best tunes over there?
There are many bars in the town that will play what we all are familiar with and also some ballads of the old time. The best music to hear on this island in my ignorant opinion are the church bells singing to the wind while donkeys trot silently.

And what about unforgettable beaches?
Galifos Beach is pure ecstasy. Not a sound but still water washing slowly against the rocks.

Lastly, tell us what makes this island so magical to you?
This island as a whole has been ingrained in my memory as the richest, slowest and happiest place on earth. Thank you Folegandros. Thank you Greece. I love you.
Keli Holiday’s hotly-anticipated new album Capital Fiction drops on 13 February. Check it out on Spotify or wherever you get your tunes.
