Looking for the perfect summer getaway or a soul-reviving post-lockdown escape?

If your wish list includes acres of tranquil forest, a freshwater infinity pool, a geodesic yoga dome, proximity to Byron Bay, and a little notoriety by way of featuring in a star-studded Hulu show—you’ll want to take a look at Soma, which is officially available to book on Airbnb.

Yep, Soma is the backdrop for Nine Perfect Strangers—the brand-new series starring a super creepy Nicole Kidman that tells the tale of a health retreat descending into chaos. Inspired by a New York Times bestselling book of the same name by author Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video if you want to research Soma a little more—though we have a feeling your stay at this stunning retreat might be a little different to Melissa McCarthy's.

Set on 22 hectares of rolling green hills and lush bamboo forest, Soma is a quick 10-minute drive from the centre of Byron, boasting maximum hinterland privacy. In real life, it is a wellness retreat, but in place of scary Nicole Kidman with a Russian accent, you have technology entrepreneur Peter Ostick and sought-after wellness and meditation practitioner Gary Gorrow.

Gorrow is a Vedic Meditation teacher and health and mindfulness coach, and the property hosts regular courses on meditation, stress and anxiety management, and “rounding”, which is an advanced form of Vedic Mediation. Keen to try it out from home? Soma very recently launched their first online course, “RISE”, a seven-part series on overcoming stress and anxiety in these current times.

As well as its wellness facilities—the infinity pool, yoga dome, fire pit, zen garden, infrared sauna, and magnesium ice bath—there are 10 luxury guest rooms, each fitted with a king-size bed and rain shower.

Before now, staying at Soma would typically need to be a part of one of Gorrow’s dedicated retreats, or by booking out the entire property. Now though, through Airbnb Luxe, you can book a stay in one of the guest rooms to just soak up the incredible serenity—and then choose to add on wellness extras like meditation courses, breath and bodywork sessions, and Ayurvedic meals prepared by a specialised chef.
