It’s time to check in on your gay best friend and dust off your disco pants, because British pop icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor has just announced that she’s bringing her brand of glossy disco pop back to the land Down Under this summer–but you better not steal the moves!
That’s right, fans across Australia will have the chance to boogie along with Sophie Ellis-Bextor at shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. She’s set to perform all her chart-topping noughties hits, as well as brand new pop anthems from her latest album Perimenopop (which arguably should go down as one of the best album names of all time). Released on September 12, the new album is a playful and self-empowered celebration of where Sophie is at in her life, and features singles Taste and Dolce Vita.

With a career spanning two decades and several studio albums filled with disco-tinged earworms, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is one of the biggest British pop artists to emerge from the 2000s.
You’d have to be living under a rock to have missed her smash-hit 2001 single Murder on the Dancefloor–and if you can still vividly recall the glittery green eyeshadow our alabaster goddess was rocking in the super-camp music video, then this tour is for you. Of course, the song made a pop-culture resurgence after it was featured in the cult 2023 film Saltburn, and covered by Aussie indie pop darlings Royel Otis for triple j’s Like A Version.
Known for her sparkly, feel-good live performances, Sophie has performed at world-famous venues and festivals, including Glastonbury, Latitude, and Australia’s very own Splendour In The Grass, as well as Sydney Mardi Gras’ Bondi Beach Party in 2024.
Who Is Supporting Sophie Ellis-Bextor On Her Australian Tour?
Sophie will be joined by Australian-born, English-based indie pop singer-songwriter Holiday Sidewinder, who is bringing her synth-driven disco vibes to all shows (except Perth).
