Take A Dip At These Local Swimming Pools For Just $2 All Summer

By Isabella Jeffrey

The jacarandas are blooming and our hair is frizzing, which can only mean one thing—the warm weather has returned to Brisbane. Few places are more fitting for a sweltering day than the local pool, but cozzie livs pressures can make summer entertainment expensive.

Thankfully for us, Brisbane City Council is discounting general entry fees to only $2 for all 22 council pools from 1 December 2023 to 29 February 2024. Cool off, enjoy a bag of red frogs, and get cosy under an umbrella with a book all day long.

Plus, ditch the expensive ice baths this summer and head to your closest Council pool as the $2 entry covers the Council's active and healthy aquatic classes, too.

To help you sort out your pool plan of attack, we’ve rounded up our go-to pools across Brisbane to take advantage of this summer.

Sandgate Aquatic Centre

From the outdoor lagoon-style pool to the picturesque seaside location, Sandgate Aquatic Centre is plucked from our fave early 2000s core summer memories. With a 50-metre lap pool, indoor heated pool for fitness, lagoon-style outdoor pool with water features and a kiosk, this pearler of a pool is kitted out with everything you need for the whole fam. You’ll find us waiting under the water bucket for the drop!

Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool

Sure, we’re no Susie O’Neill in the water, but we’re determined to spend our summer dips like we’re reppin’ the country with swimming pros. Alongside the whopping 50-metre lap pool at Newmarket Swimming Pool, there’s a vibrant kid's wade pool with water features and mini waterslides for thrilling summer adventures. There’s also heated pool activities with a ramp for access and large sprawling grounds to park a spot around—so rain or shine, you’re catered for.

Acacia Ridge Aquatic Centre

Tucker the whole family out this summer at Acacia Ridge Aquatic Centre. It's home to a lagoon pool with water features right out of our childhood, a climbing wall, a kiddie pool and a heated 25-metre pool for fitness with ramp access. After a day spent between the water feature mushrooms and climbing wall, link back up with the family at the kiosk and enjoy a round of Drumsticks on the grassy surrounds before heading home.

Runcorn Pool

For sprawling shaded areas and playful water features, put that $2 towards entry to Runcorn Swimming Pool. Enjoy a classic summer's day out and start with a swim in their 25-metre outdoor lap pool and a visit to the play area with water features and playgrounds. Then, head to the indoor heated pool for fitness, and finish up with snacks at the cafe. Don’t risk spending too long in the direct sun, there are plenty of shaded areas around the pools to cool off as you can slip, slop and slap again before heading back into the pool.

Bellbowrie Pool

For larger-than-life fun, round up that loose change and pop it towards a day out at Bellbowrie Swimming Pool. The whopping 50-metre lap pool is just the beginning at this swimming centre. Splash around under a large drop bucket or in the water play area. Hit up the heated pool with ramp access if you’re looking to unwind. Or set up a picnic rug in the shaded grounds at Bellbowrie. Make sure to stock up on snacks from the kiosk to keep the energy high all day.
