If you’ve been absolutely devo about the end of the smash hit TV romance drama that’s all but broken the internet, you can stop sobbing and breathe a huge sigh of relief because a The Summer I Turned Pretty movie is officially happening. Whether you’re team Conrad or Jeremiah, this is pretty exciting news. After all, the TV series has had the world in a chokehold for the past four years, so it’s safe to assume that the movie will break us all.

Just in case you haven’t yet seen the Season 3 finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty—and have also somehow miraculously avoided spoilers—you should leave this page right now, go and smash out the remaining episodes on Amazon Prime Video, and then come back. But, if you’re up to date and don’t need to worry about our major spoilers warning, it’s safe to read on.

So, what do we actually know about The Summer I Turned Pretty movie?

After a neat-bow conclusion to Belly’s story, where she finally ends up with Conrad, it’s hard to imagine what the movie could be about (please, oh please don’t break them up and make us wait again). However, the author behind the books and the TV series, Jenny Han, dropped a huge hint by saying that there’s a major milestone in Belly’s story left to tell, and only a movie could do it justice. Could this be a Bonrad wedding? After all, this is the only major event from the books that didn’t make it into the series…

Jenny, Amazon Prime, and the cast of The Summer I Turned Pretty are teasing us like nobody’s business with very little information about the movie so far, except for confirmation on September 17, 2025, that it’s officially being made. However, what we do know is that it will be written and directed by Jenny Han (yay) and will at least feature Lola Tung as Belly, as well as Christopher Briney as Conrad.

Everything else is up to the internet to wildly hypothesise for the time being. But we’ll be sure to keep you posted about the cast, release date, movie, and trailer as soon as we know more. And, when the next chapter in this romance saga is finally released into the world (presumably some time next year), we’ll be sure to let you know exactly where to watch The Summer I Turned Pretty movie.

That’s all we’ve got for now, folks. But if you need a distraction in the meantime to satisfy your romantic cravings, check out our top picks of romance movies on Netflix right now.
