You've seen the UK version. You've seen it in the US version. Now, The Office is getting its very own Aussie twist and we're absolutely not joking.
Now, we're guessing if you're here—most of you don't need any background on the series but if you're new, let us explain. The British sitcom was originally created by the legend that is Ricky Gervais (along with Stephen Merchant) who also starred at the show's central character, David Brent, a clueless and cringe-inducing office manager.
The six-part series originally aired from 2001 to 2003 and TV buffs known it's widely regarded as a pioneering show in the mockumentary genre as well as having brilliant writing, memorable characters, relatable situations in an office environment and of course, longstanding cultural impact (the memes really are never-ending).
Fast-forward to 2005, the series recieved an American-spin, starring the likes of Steve Carell, John Krasinkski, Jenna Fischer and Rainn Wilson. The Office has also inspired other adaptations and international versions in different countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France and more.
In terms of what we know about The Office Australia version, naturally, it's all quite hush-hush for now. We do know however, that the series will be produced by Bunya Production (the crew behind The Drover's Wife, Jasper Jones, Sweet Country, Total Control and Mystery Road) and will feature a female lead, unlike its former counterparts.
The Australian version of The Office is locked to drop on Prime Video, sometime in 2024 or 2025.
