There’s always something exciting happening in the bustling and vibrant Tāmaki Makaurau, and Easter weekend is no exception. Whether it’s family brunch with an Easter twist, an Auckland staycation with the kids or an excuse to indulge in Easter hot cross buns and Easter treats—gather the crew for a relaxing weekend ahead, rain or shine.

Here are our Easter picks for what’s on in Tāmaki Makaurau this Easter long weekend, and the reason to get out of the no matter what the weather the city will bring.

The Festive Forecast for Easter in Auckland 2026

Auckland in April is a bit of everything when it comes to weather and it’s definitely a bit unpredictable with each part of Auckland having their own weather micro-climate across the city. From hot and humid days with the sunshine spilling through, to the odd shower and bit of rain in between, regardless of where you are in Tāmaki Makaurau—don’t let the rain stop you from enjoying the long Easter weekend ahead.

Start off your Easter weekend outdoors, with Friday through to Sunday holding up, and while the clouds roll in come Monday, it’s still a warm 20°C high. With rain scheduled Monday onwards (and heavier come Tuesday), it’s the perfect Easter hot chocolate and treats weather, followed by a hot cross bun pick up for the road home.
