Digital Creator And Presenter Aichark Robertson’s Go-To Date Spots In Brisbane

By

Bright, bold, and endlessly energetic, Aicha Robertson is a digital creator you might have spotted in your feed interviewing the cast of Bridgerton or sharing the red carpet with the glamorous actors from Emily in Paris

If you’ve scrolled her channels, you’d also be familiar with her boyfriend Nick, a regular guest in her Fit Checks and GRWMs. Their relationship is a lot like their videos—fresh, vibrant and a whole lot of fun.

First locking eyes at a concert in Fortitude Valley, Nick and Aichark just clicked. “Our first date was at The Powerhouse for their Sunday comedy sessions,” says Robertson. “Going out somewhere where there’s good music or entertainment is a great way to have a laugh and break the tension.

Restaurant openings and exhibitions top the list for their current date night activities. “Exploring a new date spot and finding great vegan food is our fave,” says Robertson. “Live entertainment is always a bonus—or a new movie,” she adds.

To find out how this culturally tapped-in couple keeps their relationship fresh, we partnered with Listerine—the ultimate date night wingman to boost your confidence—to ask the duo for their go-to date night spots in Brissy.

Vegan Markets

Aicha and Nick are big fans of the Brisbane Vegan Markets. “It’s a great chance to support small businesses. You can pick up unique foods you can’t get anywhere else,” says Robertson.

A monthly vegan market popping up at Toombul on Sundays and Mt Gravatt Showgrounds on Friday evenings, it’s a one-stop shop for plant-based food, drinks, raw treats, and cruelty-free products.

It's also a great spot for getting outdoors and soaking up the atmosphere. “The market's on a hill with the nicest sunset," says Robertson. "Plus, you’ll normally find musicians performing which is really cute."

Parking up on the grass with a picnic blanket is the couple's date night go to. “We love that it’s outdoors and so relaxed,” says Robertson. “We always grab a vegan burger from Grassfed and an iced tea from Iced Tea Co.”

The Twin

A fresh favourite tucked away in West End, The Twin’s vibe is eclectic but cool. “This spot was suggested to us by a friend, and it reminds us of a classic New York deli,” says Robertson.

Leafy, local, and bustling, it’s a date spot fave for its exceptional vegan menu and sun-soaked courtyard. “Depending on the weather, we tuck ourselves away inside by the window, or head to the garden outside,” says Robertson.

“We’re always ordering the falafel sandwich, chilli fries,” she adds. “Washed down with a couple of iced lattes on almond milk, of course.”

Naim

Tucked away in a cosy cottage on Collingwood Street in Paddington, Naim is a banging Middle Eastern spot with all the ingredients for a perfect date.

With a stunning outlook of Mount Coo-Tha and plenty of plant-based options, Aicha and Nick park up at a table with the best views. “For brekky we order the smashed avo on toast with vegan halloumi,” says Robertson. “Nick gets an iced latte—but I love their mint lemonade, it’s unreal.”

This gem may be a brekky and lunch staple, but the team at Nima know their way around a dinner table too. “Nick hasn’t tried dinner there yet, but next time we’re going straight for the loaded olive oil with herby focaccia, slow-braised harissa jackfruit, and the kataifi chocolate mousse,” she shares.

Flying Colours

When they're after a post-dinner tipple or late arvo bev, Aicha and Nick are heading straight for Flying Colours. “They have an excellent audio system and a huge mix of records. Plus a great set up for outdoor and indoor hangs,” says Robertson.

Inside, you'll find a dimly lit bar with DJs spinning vinyl and a cosy warehouse dining room for a sit-down feed. For Aicha and Nick, the courtyard is where it's at. “We like to sit kinda close to the music but still outdoors in the shade. It's the best way to soak up the atmosphere,” she says.

Terrific Noodles

With some of the best hand-pulled noodles going around, Aicha and Nick make tracks to this Sunnybank lunch spot on the reg. “It’s the best food on the planet, period,” says Robertson.

“We love to sit near the window and tuck into the best biang biang noodles with extra garlic (like, literally a whole garlic). Afterwards, I get a matcha from Kusuka Corner and Nick grabs a passionfruit bubble tea. Bliss.”
