If you’re a fan of all the epic immersive art pieces that have been hitting Brisbane, you’ll be thrilled to hear that another massive outdoor art exhibition is coming along, and this one's designed to be enjoyed after dark.

Botanica:Contemporary Art Outside is returning to the City Botanics Gardens in May, bringing a huge display of large-scale artworks from some of Australia’s leading contemporary artists and designers that will light up the parklands with projections and installations—melding art, science, and technology to reflect themes of sustainability. This year's theme is 'Tread Softly', with artists given the directive to consider a millenium of human influence and reflect on our natural environments to shape ideas for our future directions.

On top of the free works to explore on your own schedule, there'll be guided walks and the popular children’s discovery trail, as well as performances each evening. Pop-up bar and food trucks will be pulling up in the gardens to ensure there's something to eat and drink every night too, so BYO picnic blanket.

Botanica will be taking over the gardens from Friday 12 to Saturday 20 May, and you can keep an eye on Brisbane City Council’s website for more information on the individual works and timetable of scheduled events.
