When you come home from swanning about in Vietnam or partying in Thailand or feasting in Malaysia or getting lost in Laos, there’s only one way to keep that holiday feeling going: by recreating all the delicious food.

Whether you’re attempting a steaming hot pho soup, a traditional Peking duck or a spicy pad see ew, we’ve put together this list of Brisbane’s best Asian grocers so you can nail that authentic taste on the first go.

Hong Lan Asian Foods

West End

Don’t let the low key façade deter you, Hong Lan in West End is considered one of Brisbane’s best Asian grocers. Stocking a treasure trove of interesting items, there is an abundance of fresh Vietnamese greens, rice, noodles and spices as well as a wide range of seafood.

Yuen’s Market

Sunnybank

Looking for kimchi, quail eggs, sticky rice or lychee juice? Yuen's Market in Sunnybank is the place to go for good reason. Yuen’s stocks an epic selection of just about everything you could ever want at great prices.

Vinh Ky Asian Groceries

West End

If you’re as obsessed with pho as we are, then you’ve probably considered making it yourself and Vinh Ky in West End is the place to stock up on all the ingredients. Alongside the many types of Vietnamese noodles and whole plucked chickens, there’s also speciality desserts and a good range of fresh Asian greens.

Genki Mart

Alderley

Not only does Japanese specialty grocer Genki Mart in Alderley specialize in Japanese foodstuffs, it also specializes in Japanese alcohol. Hell yes! If there is anything better than being able to stock up an extensive range of wasabi, miso, kelp noodles, sake and totally delicious Japanese ice cream in one place then I’d like to hear about it immediately.

Garboro Asian Supermarket

Fortitude Valley

The huge Garboro warehouse near Chinatown literally has aisles and aisles and aisles full of Asian goodies. There is an excellent variety of Asian herbs including Thai basil, lemongrass and Vietnamese mint as well as hordes of awesome Chinese snacks, teas, cooking supplies and good quality woks. And the staff are known for being super helpful too.
