Brisbane’s Open House Is Back For 2023 And Wants You To Get Snooping

By

Calling all design nerds, appreciators of architecture and lovers of a good old fashioned snoop around: Brisbane Open House is back for 2023. Queue ALL of the gorgeous buildings, hidden treasures and private residences opening their doors to the public for one weekend only.

Held annually, Brisbane Open House champions our beautiful city’s design in all its forms and our diverse architectural heritage. From 15-16 July, step inside some of Brisbane’s most iconic—and often not open to the general public—government buildings, award-winning private residences, public spots and curious spaces ripe for having a bit of a sticky beak (and some serious ‘gramming ops)!

Brisbane Open House has announced that over 80 venues will be taking part in this year's program, including several never-before-seen buildings to explore. Personally we're just hoping to have a poke in some people's designer houses that will make us feel even worse about the fact that we'll never be able to afford them.

The program will be launching at the estemeed UQ Mayne Medical Building and Brisbane Open House is set to showcase their newly announced Iconic Precinct for 2023, Herston - Health and Heritage. The Herston - Health and Heritage has an array of incredible buildings that exhibit Brisbane's architectural evolution. This includes the historic Lady Lamington Nurses' Home and Towers, as well as the iconic Edith Cavell Building, to name just a couple of the many that will be on display for one spectacular weekend.

On top of these incredible buildings opening their doors, there will be a number of events and talks taking place across town as part of the 2023 Brisbane Open House program. This will include an interactive activity hosted by Bluescope at King George Square, which will explore the impact of steel on Brisbane's architectural landscape, and the iconic Suncorp Stadium, for all the rugby buffs out there.

Lock it in your calendars and head to the Brisbane Open House website for more details and the full weekend program—and start planning where you'll be snooping all weekend.
