Calling all design nerds, appreciators of architecture and lovers of a good old fashioned snoop around: Brisbane Open House is back and bigger than ever for 2017! Queue ALL of the gorgeous houses, hidden treasures and private residences opening their doors to the public for one weekend only!
Held annually in conjunction with World Architecture Day, Brisbane Open House champions our beautiful city’s design in all its forms and our diverse architectural heritage. From the 7–8 October step inside some of Brisbane’s most iconic—and often not open to the general public—government buildings, award-winning private residences, public spots and curious spaces ripe for having a bit of a sticky beak (and some serious ‘gramming ops)!
This year’s list of open houses is second-to-none, with beauties such as the Spring Hill Services Reservoirs, Roma Street Fire Station, the iconic Peters Ice Cream Factory, the Old Windmill Tower and slick design studios Cottee Parker Studio, Hames Sharley and Bureau Proberts Architects to name but a tiny few.
On top of these incredible buildings opening their doors, there will be a number of events and talks taking place across town as part of the 2017 Brisbane open house programme.
Now in its 7th year, Brisbane Open House is set to have its biggest year yet, with thousands of us curious Brisbanites keen to explore and unearth the hidden charm of our hometown.
Lock it in your calendars and plan your itinerary now—there’s a lot to see this year!
