Calling all design nerds, appreciators of architecture and lovers of a good old fashioned snoop around: Brisbane Open House is back and bigger than ever for 2019. Queue ALL of the gorgeous houses, hidden treasures and private residences opening their doors to the public for one weekend only.
Held annually in conjunction with World Architecture Day, Brisbane Open House champions our beautiful city’s design in all its forms and our diverse architectural heritage. From 12–13 October step inside some of Brisbane’s most iconic—and often not open to the general public—government buildings, award-winning private residences, public spots and curious spaces ripe for having a bit of a sticky beak (and some serious ‘gramming ops)!
With 119 buildings and more than 60 events and walking tours, Brisbane Open House has announced a catalogue of new buildings joining this year’s program, including recently opened Mercedes-Benz Lifestyle Precinct, 1 William Street, Ryan Street Library, 25 King Street (the tallest commercial timber building in the world), and many more. Personally we just want to poke in people's houses like this one with its own library and this incredible residence in New Farm. Uhh, can we move in?
On top of these incredible buildings opening their doors, there will be a number of events and talks taking place across town as part of the 2019 Brisbane Open House programme.
Now in its 10th year, Brisbane Open House is set to have its biggest year yet, with thousands of us curious Brisbanites keen to explore and unearth the hidden charm of our hometown.
Lock it in your calendars and plan your itinerary now—there’s a lot to see this year.
