Legendary New York Cocktail Bar Death & Co Is Now Open In A Brisbane Basement
Sip up because Death & Co—one of the most influential cocktail bars on the planet—has opened a Brisbane outpost and it's dark, intimate and pouring tipples like you won't believe.
Founded in New York City back in 2006, Death & Co didn't just serve great drinks—it literally defined modern classics, kickstarting a wave of fedora-sporting, vest-rocking bartenders making face-melting drinks worldwide.
Transforming the basement cellar bar that formerly held The Walrus Club into an array of secluded nooks, plush banquettes and candlelit corners, Death & Co Brisbane hones the institution’s signature craftsmanship and creative approach into every glass. You can expect Death & Co’s globally recognised classics like the Naked & Famous and Oaxaca Old Fashioned served with an extra side of flair, as well as distinctly Aussie sips like the Telegraph with Four Pillars Dry Gin and native eucalyptus.

Our pick? Dealer’s Choice, where the expert bartenders lean on the two decades of Death & Co mastery to create a drink specifically tailored to you.
Meanwhile, bar snacks reach new heights with Death & Co’s food offering from the simplicity of aromatic truffle popcorn to blistered shishito peppers and buttermilk fried chicken skewers. You can also try a staple from the US menus: Uncle Wes’ drunken cookies that are delightfully gooey and subtly laced with banana liqueur.
Sealing the fact that Death & Co is Brisbane’s new place to be after dark, the venue also features The Studio by Death & Co: a bustling cocktail lounge and performance space with a curated lineup of live music and jazz performances.

“Brisbane has a rhythm and energy all its own. The mix of historic charm and modern hospitality drew us in—from The Regatta’s storied basement to the way locals embrace great food, cocktails, and community,” says David Kaplan, founder and co-owner of Death & Co. “We wanted to be in a city where our style of craft cocktails, intimate conversation, and quiet discovery would feel right at home.”
Death & Co Brisbane is now open at 543 Coronation Drive, Toowong. Book here.
