If you're looking for a bucket list travel experience that you’ll yarn about to your mates for years to come—we’ve found it. The Singapore Grand Prix is a goosebump-inducing event that transforms the already buzzing city into the ultimate adult’s playground from 13 to 22 September. And no, you don’t have to be a Daniel Riccardo stan to enjoy this iconic night race—there’s incredible live music acts (previous performers include Post Malone and Ariana Grande), gastronomic adventures from Michelin star chefs, pop-up cultural events and nonstop parties. But more on that later.
The vibes are truly immaculate, so trust us when we say you’re going to want to book in some annual leave and snag yourself a ticket.
Hit The Track
The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2024 is an extravaganza of pure fun and non-stop race-themed festivities centered around a heart-stopping race circuit that weaves throughout the city at night and takes place over three adrenaline-pumping days from 20 to 22 September.
The first street circuit in Asia designed specifically for Formula 1 races, you’ll watch in complete awe as the likes of Oscar Piastri and Lewis Hamilton zip through the neon-soaked streets of Singapore at top speeds of 325 km/h, pulling off sharp turns that defy logic, whipping past historical buildings serving as the backdrop. And what makes this year’s race even better is that for the first time ever, F1 Academy (the Formula 1 all-women series) will be making its debut as a support race.
It is no wonder that the Singapore Grand Prix has been touted as the most exciting Race of the Year. After all, even Max Verstappen, the current World Drivers Champion, has not yet clinched an SGP victory.
There’s not a bad seat on the circuit, with grandstands and standing platforms putting punters right in the heart of the action—the energy is truly electric. But if you want to really elevate your race experience, with premium views, food and bevvies, snag a ticket to one of the races primo hospitality suites—Sky Suite, Twenty3, Vista Suite or Torque Lounge.
When it comes to concerts and entertainment, the Singapore Grand Prix knows where it is at. From OneRepublic to Kylie Minogue, and Lenny Kravitz, you can expect to pair recognisable names with roving acts like fire-twirling dancers, drumming troupes and Brazilian samba dancers. With festival vibes in full swing you will be left to decide whether to party the night away at The Garage, chill out at Sunset Stage or witness some of the globe’s most iconic DJs as they keep the beats flowing down at Coconut Grove.
The Off-Track Festivities
But like we said, the action isn’t just taking place on the track. With Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS) starting on 13 September and going for 10 days, the off-track festivities are stacked with events that will have you extending your stay in Singapore for a couple more days.
Post concert, kick-on at the race’s biggest after parties with race-themed gigs happening at Zouk in Clarke Quay, Tipsy Unicorn at Sentosa’s beachfront and the biggest of all, the iconic Amber Lounge at Fullerton Bay.
Whether it is booking a booth with your mates, marveling at the acrobats hanging from the ceiling, hitting the d-floor or blissing out to a huge line up of international DJs while sipping your way through their cocktail list, these parties are a sure-fire good time.
If you don’t manage to snap a pic with your fave driver at Amber Lounge, you can catch them at the Drivers Meet and Greet session held at the Wharf Stage. Or get a feel for life behind the wheel with the F1 race simulators.
If pub crawls are more your thing, get yourself on the Pints and Pitstops pub crawl. This race-themed adventure will see you answering Grand Prix trivia while checking out some of Singapore’s best bars and pubs. This unbeatable sipping experience ends with a dance party at one of Singapore’s most iconic nightspots. Did we mention you get to skip the queue?
Aside from the parties, you will want to check out the LEGO Mercedes-AMG F1 car (its first appearance in South-East Asia) before heading over to Gallery26 at Dempsey Hill for an exhibition that details the evolvement of the Singapore Grand Prix over the years.
When In Singapore...
A true adult’s oasis, you’ll absolutely want to extend your stay and linger a little longer in Singapore. Looking for one of the best things to do here? Eat! Restaurants across the city craft unforgettable culinary adventures — we recommend checking out Candlenut for 1-Michelin starred Peranakan fare. And you can’t come to Singapore and not devour street eats at their iconic hawker centres. Must visits are Maxwell Food Centre, Telok Ayer Market and Tiong Bahru Market.
From here, make tracks for Sentosa, where you can face off on gamified Go Karts at HyperDrive(try to beat Charles Leclerc’s time), chill out at beach clubs like +twelve or simply zen out at spa Auriga at Capella, a non-negotiable when visiting the island. If you prefer your digs more central, soak up waterfront views at the Fullerton Bay Hotel, or hang with cool kids at The Singapore Edition Hotel. Pro tip: make sure you visit the achingly cool Punch Room bar.
