Jorja Smith has picked a fairly efficient way to announce a new album; drop a record, co-headline one of London's biggest festivals and hey, while she's at it, announce she's coming back to Australia.

The British singer's third album, What Are The Odds, is finally here and with it comes news of a three-date Australian tour for November 2027.

The timing definitely feels big and that's because this year in particularl has become a bit of a victory lap for Smith. January marked 10 years since Blue Lights, the SoundCloud debut she wrote as a teenager, sampling Dizzee Rascal's Sirens and turning an A-level-era idea about policing and racial profiling into one of the defining British songs of the 2010s.

What Are The Odds picks up the thread of 2023's Little Things, the UK Funky-leaning track that became an unlikely summer anthem, and runs with it, moving through a bit of UK Garage, grime, 2-step, soulful house and Afro House.

Australia, for the most part, has never exactly played too hard to get. Sydney itself currently ranks among Smith's three biggest cities globally on Spotify, and her last local run in 2024 ended with a sold-out Sydney show.
