If you regularly drive down St Paul’s Terrace in the Valley, you’ve no doubt been keeping a keen eye on the progress of Jubilee Place, the massive glass structure rising up above the Jubilee Hotel. And with the building now complete, so too is the new and improved Jube, which just reopened looking almost nothing like its former self.

While the pub’s iconic facade remains the same, continue inside past the sleekly renovated front bar and pokies room and you’ll abruptly find yourself in a stunning, bright and airy atrium, with natural light streaming in through the glass walls and skylights above. Gone is the old wood-heavy beer garden, with the new space styled to tie in with the criss-crossing white metal framework that surrounds it—curved, maroon leather booths are tucked away under white, a-frame-like structures in a raised dining area, with high tables below scattered around the brass-lined bar. We never would have guessed that the Jubilee Hotel had it in it to be this gorgeous, but there you go.

At one end of the sun-soaked bar you can spot a couple of massive steel brewing tanks behind glass—those aren’t just for show, they’re actually hard at work brewing up beers for the hotel’s own microbrewery Two Dogs Brewing, which you’ll only be able to get on tap there at the bar. And upstairs, multiple different function spaces are bound to be the Christmas party venue of choice this year—our pick is Frankie’s Terrace, which overlooks the atrium and has both an indoor and outdoor area.

If you’re just popping in for a drink and a bite to eat, however, you’ll find an expansive line up of elevated pub grub on the menu, including pizzas, burgers and of course, classic mains like steaks, parmies, and fish and chips. Snacks to share include the likes of grilled saganaki, charcuterie, and Peking duck spring rolls, while some less typical pub mains like spanakopita and sand crab spaghettini ensure everyone in the office will be keen for a Jube lunch. And of course, the bar is very well-stocked, with no less than 150 beer taps, so no one will be going thirsty.

Frankly, we think this may just be the best looking pub in Brisbane—it’s a big call, but we’re standing by it. The new and improved Jubilee Hotel is open now, and you can get all the details here

If you’re over that way, you should also check out the new SOKO Rooftop, 14 floors above.
