With its pristine bushland and sweeping mountain views, Moreton Bay’s Clear Mountain lends itself to tranquil escapes and breathtaking serenity—and soon it’ll add elevated luxury to the offering with the first five-star hotel in the City of Moreton Bay just announced.

The iconic Mercure Clear Mountain is rebranding into a luxury Peppers retreat, honouring the 51-room property’s natural beauty while infusing it with the sophisticated hospitality synonymous with the Peppers brand.

“Our vision is to reimagine Clear Mountain as a premier wedding and tourism destination—one that blends timeless charm with refined hospitality,” said Mandela Hotels & Resorts Principal Ryan Shaw. “We’re proud to bring Peppers’ signature experience to this extraordinary location.”

Alongside Clear Mountain’s 20 hectares of native bushland and panoramic views encompassing the country, mountain and coastline, the comprehensive upgrade will add a suite of luxury amenities to the peak location. We’re talking about a signature restaurant and bar anchored by a central fireplace, a resort-style pool, gym and enhanced wellness spa, a billiards room, several private dining experiences, and integrated landscaping and design curated to celebrate the natural surroundings. Peppers Clear Mountain is set to be a destination for guests and locals alike, combining refined indulgence with rugged charm in equal measure.

“This upgrade will elevate our City’s profile nationally and internationally, supporting local businesses and attracting new leisure and corporate visitors,” Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said. “Given our proximity to Brisbane’s CBD and airport, this five-star retreat will help meet growing accommodation demand and unlock new opportunities for tourism operators and hospitality venues.”

The Peppers Clear Mountain renovations will be staged to ensure the property remains operational throughout while minimising guest disruption, but we don’t blame you if you want to wait until the luxury overhaul is complete.
