Point Hotel Unveils $15 Million Makeover With A Manhattan-Style Dining Room And Rooftop Bar
Anyone who's strolled along Kangaroo Point Cliffs knows it's an enviable location, and a defining reason why Point Hotel has been a Brisbane staple for more than 25 years. But now, the independent boutique destination is entering a new chapter, unveiling a $15 million transformation that benefits both guests and locals alike.
Point Hotel called on Melbourne-based design firm Bergman & Co. for the undertaking, who worked with Brisbane-based hospitality fit-out specialists Unita (Supernormal, Black Hide) to deliver an elevated experience complemented by stone flooring, warm timber accents and leather detailing. Retreat to your room and you can relax in comfort, with redesigned shared spaces offering a more social setting like poolside—where a custom-made mosaic and ceramic installation by Brisbane artist Jane du Rand sets the tone in a beautiful depiction of a native pandanus tree and blue-faced honeyeaters.

While you're wandering around, take a big sniff because Point Hotel also now has a bespoke and woody signature fragrance developed in collaboration with French fragrance house Maison 21G Paris, combining bitter orange and ginger with cedar and vetiver. The details matter, after all.
At the centre of the new Point Hotel are three distinct food and beverage destinations. First to open is KIN Bar & Dining: a refined Manhattan-inspired dining room and bar taking over the Lamberts space on the ground floor. It’s polished yet welcoming, with highlights like a 500g bone-in Black Angus sirloin with Bloody Mary butter, yukhoe beef tartare with nashi, sesame and confit garlic, and their signature dessert: the KIN Alaska with almond ice cream, strawberry and a hint of Cointreau.

Up on Level 12, Eagles Nest is now AIRA Rooftop which will open soon for share plates, signature cocktails, wines and late-night grooves—all while taking advantage of its stunning skyline views (seriously, pencil this one for NYE). Rounding out the lineup is Frank’s Pantry: a casual neighbourhood pitstop for specialty coffee, local provisions and everyday essentials which includes a signature blend developed with Wolff Coffee Roasters.
"Point Hotel has been part of Kangaroo Point for more than 25 years, and we wanted this transformation to reflect both the character of the neighbourhood and the way Brisbane has evolved,” said hotelier Frank Yong.

"For our hotel guests, it's about creating a more complete experience, with places to dine, unwind and spend time beyond their rooms. Equally important was creating spaces that Brisbane locals would want to visit in their own right, whether that's dinner at KIN, drinks at AIRA or simply meeting for coffee at Frank’s. We wanted Point Hotel to feel connected to its neighbourhood, not separate from it.”
