Because we can’t go adding a splash of vodka to our daily flat white (seriously, this will get you fired—don’t do it. Unless you work for yourself then whatever), some genius actually invented a beverage that combined the two: enter, the not-so-humble espresso martini.
And, frankly, why should it be humble? Short of adding sparklers and paper umbrellas, no other drink gets us quite as revved (literally), so of course your fave cocktail deserves its own festival. And, that’s exactly what’s happening at Welcome To Bowen Hills next month.
Taking over the vibing outdoor bar on Saturday 27 February, Espresso Fesso (what a name, right?) will be dedicated to Brissy's most delectable and instagramable espresso martinis. Your $20 ticket will score you entry for one of the three hour time periods, one espresso martini to get you started, access to loads of local espresso martini slingers and even the opportunity to take home cocktails, with the likes of Cape Byron Distillery, Beluga Vodka, Flor de Cana, Sunshine and Sons, Iconic Beverages and Kul-Cher Coffee Roasters in attendance.
And, being the responsible adults that we are, food is no afterthought here, heck no: expect delicious street eats courtesy of BrisVegans Food Truck and Harrys Pizza throughout the night, along with Bad Boys doughnuts and Cakes & Sh!t who we really hope will be bringing espresso martini-inspired treats.
As if you needed to read all that—we had you at espresso martini. Tickets go on sale Monday 1 February at 5pm and you know they're going to sell out so be ready.
