After long months of nothing but blazing sunshine, followed by weeks of non-stop rain (with next no relief from the heat), we’re as ready as we can be for a season change. But while autumn may not bring an overly noticeable change to Brisbane, you’re sure to notice the mini homage to the season popping up at The Regatta.
If you love the idea of golden foliage, falling leaves and autumn flavours, prepare your eyes for the new world unfolding in The Regatta’s open-air courtyard. Aptly named Colours of the Season, the pop-up is taking advantage of autumn’s imminent arrival, crafting an enchanted parkland clad with on-theme decor (we’re picturing plenty of seasonal greenery, hues of red and mustard, and some perfect mood lighting). We know that autumn’s colours usually refer to nature, but the folks at The Regatta are also putting in some effort to make sure you remember the coming season by the food and drink, not just the trees changing (not that we’ll see a hint of that in Brisbane).
Along with the semi-permanent encapsulation of autumn itself, every Sunday from March 15, the courtyard will be transformed for Picnic in the Park. A roaming three-piece band will bring all the chill vibes, and there will be food specials like cheese and charcuterie grazing boards, po’ boys stuffed with crispy prawns and picnic platters laden with pretzel bites and cheese sauce, po’ boys, salt and pepper squid, hummus with Lebanese bread, sweet potato wedges and shoestring fries.
Drinks-wise, there’s a curated selection of autumn cocktails, ranging from sangria and negronis to apple spritzes and picnic punch. Best of all, there’s no cover charge—if the courtyard is open, you can walk right in. Autumn may well be a season, but The Regatta is making it a tangible opportunity to chow down on some pretzel bites, sip on an apple spritz and hope for a chilly-ish evening.
