Views And Value: 5 Restaurants You Need To Visit This Month

By

Let’s cut to the chase—you need a dining spot that ticks all the boxes: good atmosphere, a great menu (that’s not too heavy on the wallet), and a view that’ll knock your socks off. Luckily, you’ve come to the right place.

This month, we’ve teamed up with American Express delicious. Month Out to highlight some of Brissy’s best restaurants that don’t just deliver on taste, but are a feast for the eyes. For the entire month of May, enrolled Amex Card Members can redeem the Amex delicious. Month Out Offer* at more than 9,500 participating venues across Brisbane.

From those up in the clouds to the ones you’ll find scattered along the river, these are the places you’ll find a view with value this month.

Iris Rooftop

Hotel X, 458 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley

Iris Rooftop

Got a thing for heights? Perched atop Hotel X in Fortitude Valley, you’ll find Iris Rooftop—a Mediterranean-inspired bar and restaurant that boasts one of the best views in town. With sweeping views of the Story Bridge, city skyline, and the Brisbane River, there’s nothing quite like sipping on a cocktail or two with a brag-worthy outlook like that.

As for the menu? Crafted by head chef Lloyd Evans, you can dig into Spanish tapas and hearty Mediterranean dishes designed to be shared. Serving your taste buds from Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, Iris Rooftop is sure to make quite the impression. Sunset drinks, anyone?

Lina Rooftop

74/80 Tribune Street, South Brisbane

Lina Rooftop

FYI: You don’t need to hop on a plane and fly 10,000 miles to get a taste of French Riviera life—just look up. Situated in South Brisbane, Lina Rooftop is a pool club, restaurant, bar, and lounge all in one, with sweeping skyline views of the city and beyond.

Centred around a 30m infinity pool, Lina comes with all the bells and whistles you’d expect of the Côte d'Azur. Think daybeds and sunken lounges, cabanas, and all-around good vibes.

But it’s not just the decor that’ll reel you in: they’ve got a menu that’ll satiate and satisfy. From fresh and grilled seafood plates to crunchy salads and antipasto platters, Lina Rooftop takes all your worries away. Linger a little longer, and discover why you don’t need that Euro summer vacation after all.

Greca

Howard Smith Wharves, 5 Boundary Street, Brisbane City

Greca

If ground level is more your speed, welcome to Greca: a contemporary Greek taverna located on the river beneath the Story Bridge at Howard Smith Wharves. A riverside dining experience founded by renowned restaurateur Johnathan Bathelmess, Greca brings people together through the simple pleasure of food.

Featuring a variety of Greek (duh) dishes, the menu is designed to be shared, and includes plates like tzatziki and taramasalata, saganaki, and calamari, as well as grilled lamb chops, oven-baked lamb shoulder, eggplant moussaka, grilled fish, and more. Blending modern tastes with that good old-fashioned Mediterranean hospitality, Greca sets the scene for a shared dining experience you won’t regret signing up for.

Stanley

Howard Smith Wharves, 5 Boundary Street, Brisbane City

Stanley

You came for the waterfront view, but stayed for the mouth-watering flavours. Sounds like you just pulled up a chair at Stanley. Nestled amongst Howard Smith Wharves is this Cantonese dining experience worth telling your friends about. A two-level venue with both indoor and alfresco seating options, Stanley offers a cocktail bar experience, yum cha, banquet, and a la carte dining options.

Helmed by executive chef Louis Tikaram, Stanley’s menu blends traditional Cantonese flavours with five-star Aussie produce that’ll have you tucking into dishes like Moreton Bay bug spring rolls, Peking duck, and wagyu beef cooked over coals. Dig in, because the food is almost too good to share.

Alchemy Restaurant

175 Eagle Street, Brisbane City

Alchemy Restaurant spread

City slickers won’t be deprived of destination dining scenes either, especially if they pay a visit to Alchemy. A refined dining experience located alongside the banks of the Brisbane River on Eagle Street, Alchemy’s modern Australian menu with subtle French influences is one to earmark for date night (read: elegant yet accessible).

Here, you’ll find dishes such as squid ink spaghetti, wagyu striploin, and boulangère potatoes, plus a wide range of French champagnes and vintage selection wines to choose from.

This month, Alchemy is making it a little easter to enjoy the finer things, with their BYO Wednesdays, so you can bring your favourite drop along for the ride for a $20 corkage fee. Hot tip—ask for an outside table and enjoy an (almost) private riverfront vantage of the Story Bridge. Unbeatable.
