This Masterfully Reimagined Swan Lake Is Like Nothing You’ve Ever Seen

By

From ballet novices to aficionados, everyone knows the story of Swan Lake. But no matter how many years you’ve spent pirouetting or sitting in the rows of theatres, this reimagining of the classic ballet is like nothing you've ever seen before.

Created by one of France’s leading contemporary ballet companies, Ballet Preljocaj, you can catch this boundary-pushing performance at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC for one week only, from 31 May to 7 June, 2025.

The tale of love, betrayal and seduction has been transformed into a modern-day tragedy through dramatic choreography, with Tchaikovsky's original music performed live by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and mixed with electronic music by studio 79D.

It’s been almost a decade since the visionaries at Ballet Preljocaj graced a Queensland stage, and this time, they’re exclusively visiting Brisbane as part of Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) International Series.

Previously welcoming some of the world's finest companies, including the Bolshoi Ballet, Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company (La Scala Ballet) and Paris Opera Ballet, this series coincides with QPAC's 40th anniversary celebrations—making it an extra special reason to head to the theatre.
